Dear Customers,
It is with much regret that I have decided to place Dryclean Plus up for sale. Various factors and incidents in both my business life and personal life have sadly left me with little choice. This includes the two burglaries at Dryclean Plus during the Christmas period that have upset me greatly and seriously affected my mental health. Moreover, recent Government legislation has also played a significant part in my decision.
For 15 years I, and my wonderful staff, have run Dryclean Plus in a competent and wholly professional manner, offering Newark and the surrounding villages what I hope was an impeccable service. Of course, we didn’t always get everything right, and when mistakes were made, we ensured we always went the extra mile to put things right.
Sadly, and for whatever reason, I feel I am constantly in a daily battle with certain customers who are unhappy with my services and nothing I seem to do is good enough. This, of course, is very distressing and a combination of all of this has led me to be diagnosed with various stress related illnesses including hypertension due to high blood pressure. These symptoms can lead to either a stroke, or heart attack, so I hope you understand that I must put my health and wellbeing above all else.
The business is a profitable one, and therefore I hope that it will sell quickly, and the new owners will continue offering you a first-class service by keeping my lovely staff in place.
I will be leaving Dryclean Plus and closing down my Company, Pollards of Newark Limited, on 30th April 2025. If the business is not sold by this date, I will be closing the door, but I will be available should you need access to your items by contacting any of the above details.
Lastly, the last 15 years have been amazing, and I would like to thank every single one of my wonderful customers for your loyal and faithful custom. It has been a great pleasure to serve every single one of you 😊

About Dryclean Plus and Antony Pollard
Dryclean Plus was established in Newark in 2009 on the corner of Slaughterhouse Lane and Northgate. The proprietor, Antony Pollard, is renowned as one of the country’s leading silk garment and stain removal specialists.
Antony worked at the highest levels in the dry cleaning industry whilst in London, with famous London stores such as Max Mara, Hermes and Aquascutum, all using his services. Moreover, Antony has had a long list of well know individual clients that have included the pop group Take That, to past Prime Ministers such as Margaret Thatcher, to the entrepreneur, Sir Richard Branson.

Such was the standard achieved by the shop he managed in Clapham South named ‘Mr. Steeds’ that they became the chosen dry cleaner to the very highest members of the Royal Family, including Her Majesty the Queen. Steeds were subsequently awarded the coveted Royal Warrant for their outstanding customer services, presentation and services to the dry cleaning industry.
